Canadian singer/songwriter Joe
Hall with long-time friend of Malcolm Lowry's Harvey Burt descend
the stairs together as they head to the beach in Deep Cove and
the site of Malcolm Lowry's squatters shack.
Harvey stands on the spot (right)
where Lowry's front porch once stood. "This is were it was,"
he confided, "not where they have the commemorative plaque."
The shack burnt to the ground while Lowry lived there writing
his world famous Under The Volcano. Dollarton was one of the only
places Lowry had roots, leaving for places exotic but always returning.
Hall's release of "Travelling
Without Deodorant - Best of Joe Hall" on Cordova
Bay/Ragged Pup Records features 21 of his best loved songs
between 1972 and 1988.
